The Golden Gate is the world's most famous bridge and San Francisco is the world's number one tourist destination. This photo was taken at sundown from the Marin Headlands. The area was occupied by the military and closed to the public until 1972. Because of this closure, the Headlands escaped urban development and retain the natural diversity of what the Bay Area was like before Europeans arrived. It is now administered by the National Park Service and available for many recreational activities, including photography.
